      • Microsoft Word - a word processor

      • Microsoft PowerPoint - a presentation software package
      • Microsoft Windows XP- the most commonly used computer operating system

B.         Introduce students to computer programming

C.         Introduce students to computer organization

Course Organization:

Lectures:  Cover the highlights of chapters assigned – not a substitute for reading and doing book projects.

Labs and quizzes:  Labs and quizzes are used to reinforce the material taught in class and read from the text. Since each piece of information builds on previous information, it is important to stay current. Consequently, late labs and quizzes are not accepted, unless accompanied by a doctor’s note or in the case of a verifiable emergency.  Labs will be due at the beginning of the following lab. If you must miss class due to a school function, you must arrange to turn your lab in, or take the quiz, prior to class in which it is due.

Exams:

There will be 4 written exams, and 3 practical exams. Written exams are taken in class, closed book. Practical exams are taken in the lab, open book. The anticipated schedule is as follows:

If the date of de-enrollment is past the last date to withdraw from a class, the student will be assigned a grade of “F” or “NC”.
